Claiming that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are the country’s future, PML-N leader Mian Javed Latif said on Wednesday that the party supremo would return to the country this year.

Talking to the media following his appearance in a City court in connection with anti-state speech case, Javed Latif said it was unfortunate that while people were still paying the price for what he alleged the ‘selection’ made in the last general elections, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was again planning to come to power through electronic machines.

“The nation will not tolerate this,” Latif said, and added he wondered that when he talked about learning from the mistakes made in the past, he was labelled as a traitor. He said that today the nation was yearning for Nawaz Sharif.

“We have had enough of reconciliation,” the PML-N leader said, and added that now Punjab would lead the movement against the ‘establishment’.

“When Lahore wakes up, movements become successful,” he remarked. He further said that he was not worried about himself, but about his country.

“The country is in ruins. Train accidents are more frequent now. But the government is not ready to take responsibility for such kind of disasters,” Javed regretted.

Earlier, Mian Javed Latif was produced in a court at Model Town Katchehry on the completion of the term of his judicial remand. The court reserved its verdict on whether to extend his judicial remand.

Later, speaking at a session court where he had gone in connection with seeking post-arrest bail, Latif argued that he was a political worker and that he had taken oath to defend the country.

He said police had registered case against him without taking facts into account. “Therefore, the court is request to accept my bail application,” he added.
