ISLAMABAD – As a gesture of solidarity with the people of India in the wake of the current wave of COVID-19, Pakistan has offered to provide relief support to India.
A statement issued by Foreign Office said that Pakistan is ready to provide ventilators, Bi PAP, digital X ray machines, PPEs and related items.
The concerned authorities of Pakistan and India can work out modalities for quick delivery of the relief items, it said, adding that they [officials] can also explore possible ways of further cooperation to mitigate the challenges posed by the pandemic.
The development seems to be outcome of Pakistani social media users’ demand to the government about lending support to the neighbouring country, facing devastating second wave of the pandemic.
Earlier today, PM Imran Khan shared solidarity with the citizens of India as the nation fights a deadly coronavirus outbreak, adding that the world should unite to combat the “global challenge.”
“I want to express our solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of COVID-19,” tweeted PM Imran Khan.
“We must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together,” said the PM.
The number of coronavirus infections in India increased by 346,786 overnight, according to the health ministry, setting a new world record for the third day in a row, as overburdened hospitals in the heavily populated country pleaded for oxygen supplies.
