In the recent April 11 referendum, the Kyrgyz voters have supported the new (presidential) form of the government in the country casting 81pc votes in its favour.

This was stated by Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic Erik Beishembiev during a media briefing held at the embassy on Monday.

The ambassador spoke in detail about the stability and sustainability of the current political situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Erik Beishembiev informed the media persons about the April 11, 2021 referendum on the draft Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic”, as well as elections to local authorities (keneshes).

It was noted that according to the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic, 79.3 percent voted for the new constitution and only 13.6 percent against.

The embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic had organized the briefing on “Current Political and Socio-Economic Situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.”

Even before referendum, said the ambassador, in January, 2021 early elections for the office of the President of Kyrgyz Republic, the incumbent president Sadyr Japarov received 79 pc votes demonstrating people’s trust in his leadership, he said.

Erik Beishembiev said the voting in the country and in the diplomatic missions of Kyrgyzstan abroad took place in a calm and peaceful manner and in accordance with the established procedure corresponding to the current legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as in compliance with the necessary sanitary and epidemiological standards in order to avoid mass infection of Covid-19.

International observers, he said, did not find any serious violations of the law during the plebiscite, thus the referendum and local elections were declared valid.

In addition, the h ead of the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission noted that Kyrgyzstan was a dynamically developing country with a diversified economy, where foreign investors were widely represented, including from Pakistan, as well as a number of positive initiatives of President Sadyr Japarov in the protection of foreign investments.

Erik Beishembiev emphasized the continuity of his country in the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation with its foreign partners.
