Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani on Thursday said that no one is above the law and strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for the death of a citizen who was fired upon by the Patrolling Police in Faisalabad.
“Departmental proceedings should not be delayed to fix responsibility and bring the accused officials to book.” IG Police Inam Ghani expressed the views while instructing the officers after the killing of a citizen by the firing of patrolling police in Faisalabad. CPO Faisalabad Capt (retd) Sohail Chaudhry gave a preliminary report of the incident to the Punjab IG Police.
Inam Ghani warned that misuse of powers and rude behavior with citizens during duty is not acceptable and accountability of officers and personnel involved in such incidents is one of the top priorities of Punjab Police. He said there is no place for black sheep in the department and as soon as he came to know about the Faisalabad incident, he immediately ordered action against those responsible. He said that all the four officials involved in the incident were arrested and a case was registered against them under the law.
According to the report, a case of killing of a citizen by firing of patrolling police in Faisalabad has been registered and four officers of patrolling police Shahid Manzoor, Ghulam Dastgir, Usman Hameed and Mohsin Sufyan have been arrested in the case. According to the patrolling police, the car was stopped at Chicha stop. Meanwhile, Waqas and his staff got into a heated argument and the occupants chased the vehicle away and the patrol personnel started chasing them. Patrolling personnel chased the vehicle and a firing incident took place near RA Bazaar.

He said that Muhammad Tahir Rai has a key role to play in strengthening the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) as an institution and thanks to his excellent leadership and tireless work, terrorism has been eradicated from Punjab province. The elements and their facilitators had to flee, and significant successes were achieved in minimizing the graph of terrorism, sectarianism and extremism. He further said that the appointment of Muhammad Tahir Rai as IG Balochistan is very welcome as he has the vast experience to meet the challenges of his new post and meet the government and public expectations due to his vast experience.
