Unapproved Housing Schemes in Lahore 2026 Update – Full List of illegal societies here

Unapproved Housing Schemes In Lahore 2026 Update Full List Of Illegal Societies Here

Lahore witnessed boom in housing schemes amid growing demand for residential plots and affordable homes, but the mushrooming of unauthorised developments has increasingly turned into financial nightmare for property buyers. Hundreds of people continue to risk losing their hard-earned money after making initial payments for plots in housing societies, often without properly checking their legal status or securing guarantees about development and ownership.

The growing number of questionable housing projects has raised serious concerns about property fraud, regulatory oversight and the protection of ordinary investors, particularly those who spend years saving money to secure a home for their families.

Despite repeated warnings and enforcement operations by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), unauthorised housing developments continue to surface across the provincial capital and its outskirts. In several cases, buyers are left facing uncertainty over their investments as developers collect payments while projects remain without the necessary approvals, infrastructure or clear ownership arrangements.

LDA has stepped up its crackdown, demolishing roads, boundary walls, site offices and other structures associated with illegal housing developments. However, the enforcement campaign has also highlighted the scale of the problem, with hundreds of schemes and land subdivisions appearing in official records and previous media compilations.

During 2026, the LDA conducted major operations against unauthorised housing developments in different parts of Lahore, including two significant crackdowns in July and October.

Apart from the area-wise compilations, several other housing projects have appeared in LDA-related records and previous media reports. These include Sajid Garden Housing Scheme in Mouza Tulspura near Canal Road, Ghani Bagh, Lahore Medical City Phase-I on Main UBD Canal Road, Al Ghani Garden Phase-II, Sky Land Housing Scheme and Madni Housing Scheme along GT Road in Wahga Town.

Other names include Abid Garden, Amir Town, Rizwan Garden, Al-Maalik Garden, Al Wahab Garden Phase-III and Lakhan Garden.

These lists also contain numerous smaller land subdivisions that may have been developed without the required planning permissions or transferred from local government records.

Property buyers investing in Lahore’s expanding outskirts must also consider the jurisdiction of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA). The authority maintains its own record of unauthorised housing developments in areas under its control, including localities around Manawan, Multan Road, Chung and Babu Sabu.

Check Housing Scheme Status before making payments

  1. Check whether the housing scheme appears on the latest LDA or RUDA approved list.
  2. Verify the exact phase, block and location rather than relying on the society’s name alone.
  3. Examine the land ownership documents and registry history.
  4. Confirm that the layout plan has received formal approval.
  5. Check whether any plots are mortgaged or subject to legal restrictions.
  6. Verify infrastructure and utility clearances.
  7. Obtain written confirmation from the relevant development authority.
  8. Avoid making payments solely on the basis of advertisements, promotional offers or assurances from property dealers.
