IGP underscores discipline, inspection

Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani on Monday said that discipline and inspection are the key to make performance of any force more effective. Therefore, all command officers in their respective districts are in charge of force discipline and they should ensure compliance with SOPs. The orders issued regarding the observance of professional matters and also do not delay disciplinary action by seeking response from subordinates and officials who show irresponsibility in this regard.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani stated while presiding over a high-level meeting on discipline and inspections held at Central Police Office here. On the occasion, the IG Police was given a detailed briefing on the inspections conducted in different districts of the province and steps being taken in this regard.
Inam Ghani said that the DPOs as well as Internal Accountability Branch should ensure regular inspections of police stations, police lines and offices in the districts while reports of non-implementation of recommendations for action on violation of SOPs during inspections should be sent to central police office within one week. He directed the DIG IT to complete and launch the App designed for digital monitoring of inspection matters as soon as possible while computerisation of all warehouses in all districts should be completed without delay. He further said that implementation of SOPs issued in all offices including police stations, police lines, unit headquarters, police service centers in all the districts of the province should be ensured in all cases to strengthen the liaison between the police and the people through fast track service delivery.
Instructing the officers, the IG Punjab said that the process of inspections in the districts should be directly monitored by DPOs and RPOs in the region while Additional IG IAB should also ensure it across Punjab, while inspection reports should be displayed on Dashboard of supervisory and other concerned officers so that timely steps should be taken for improving the matters by ensuring close monitoring. Additional IG Establishment Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DIG Operations Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, DIG IT Waqas Nazir and DIG IAB Muhammad Yousuf Malik and other officers were also present.
