In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Dar and human rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo have said that thousands of innocent Kashmiris are languishing in different jails of Kashmir and India for the past many years for raising their voice against Indian state terrorism and denial of right to self determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said the international human rights organisations have been reporting for decades now about the inhuman treatment meted out to these prisoners. “Even the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Prisoners has approached Indian authorities many times for the mitigation of the difficulties faced by these freedom lovers.”
He said that during the testing times of COVID 19 pandemic the guidelines by WHO are being violated as inmates are denied proper medical care. “The occupational authorities must follow the WHO guidelines and release all the IIOJK prisoners who were framed on false charges.
Kashmiri human rights activist and J&K International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Chairman Mohammed Ahsan Untoo in his statement said that hundreds of prisoners languishing in different jails were denied legal access courts and even the video presence of the prisoners was not arranged to prolong their detention.
“Some examples of these under trails are Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, Munmeet Singh, Sadat Khan, Fahad Khan and their mother, Sajad Ahmed Butt, Nisar Ahmed, Umer Noor, Akhter Hussain Abbas, Farooq Ahmed, Sameer Braght, Tariq Shah.—KMS
