Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday held separate meetings with Shia and Sunni scholars.
Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah, Law Advisor Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, DG Rangers Major General Umar Bukhari, IG Sindh Mushtaq Mehr, ACS Ho Usman Chachar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sindh Sajid Jamal Abro and other relevant officers were present in the meeting.
Shia school of thought was represented by Syed Razi Jafar, Allama Furqan Haider Abidi, Maulana Baqir, Hussain Zaidi, Maulana Nazir Taqwa, Syed Shabar Zaidi, Sibt Raza and others. Among the Sunni scholars who attended the meeting were Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Mufti Taqi Usmani, Maulana Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, Mufti Abid Mubarak Madani, Mufti Naeem Jan Naeemi, Allama Pir Syed Muzaffar Shah, Allama Ashraf Gormani, Allama Liaquat Azhari and Maulana Rehman. Amjad NomaniThe CM directed the scholars of both schools of thought to promote sectarian harmony. He said the country was at a critical juncture and our enemies wanted to create sectarian divisions, especially in the province.
The CM said, “We have to recognize our enemies. The government is going to crack down on all those who are spreading hatred.”
The clerics assured the Sindh chief minister that they would not support any person or entity involved in spreading hatred.
Sindh is the land of Sufis. People of different schools of thought have been living here with love for centuries, the CM stressed, adding, “We will never allow this love and brotherhood to go bad.”
Shah said that scholars play an important role in promoting sectarian harmony and everyone must respect each other’s feelings and thoughts.
“ Avoid talking in a way that hurts others. We have made the best arrangements for the security of Chehlum.”
