Federal Minister for Defence, Mr. Pervez Khattak that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relation with Iraq and wishes to expand cooperation in all fields of mutual interests especially Defence.
He was talking to Ambassador of Iraq to Pakistan Mr. Hamid Abbas Lafta who called on him at his office in Islamabad on Wednesday and discussed issues of bilateral interest.
Pervez Khattak said that both Pakistan and Iraq should work closely to share their experiences and build capacities of their armed forces.
The Defence Minister said that Pakistan strongly supports the sovereignty, political unity and territorial integrity of Iraq.
He said Pakistan has developed best training facilities and infrastructure for its Armed Forces. Numerous foreign countries are availing these facilities, especially the training related to special services group and counter terrorism. Therefore both countries can mutually share their defence related experiences, he added.
The visiting Ambassador conveyed and reaffirmed the commitment of the people and the government of Iraq to work closely with Pakistan and the further strengthen their bilateral relations, especially in the field of Defence.
