The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, on Thursday approved emergency assistance for the Lebanese people through the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) .
The Secretary-General stated that this emergency assistance extended through the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), an OIC subsidiary organ, demonstrates the OIC’s solidarity with affected families and the Lebanese people, and are intended to alleviate the effects of the Beirut port blast.
Al-Othaimeen commended the assistance provided by OIC member States, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Islamic Summit, with the follow-up of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, may Allah preserve them, and the United Arab Emirates, Chair of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM).
Al-Othaimeen said that these emergency humanitarian aids are intended to end the suffering of the Lebanese people hit by the Beirut port blast. He further stated that aids provided by the ISF come in the framework of the OIC’s solidarity with affected states and peoples.
Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz al-Sudais, the President of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, has asserted the “keenness of the General Presidency on cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to enrich and sustain the services provided. This would reflect the generous care and auspicious support that the wise leadership accords to the Two Holy Mosques.”
In a letter to Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, the OIC’s Secretary General, Dr. al-Sudais valued the OIC General Secretariat’s media efforts in helping various media institutions in Member States follow up the Arafa sermon during the 1441 AH Hajj season. “The OIC’s keenness and interest in delivering the sublime message of the Arafa sermon to the pilgrims and all Muslims around the world in their different languages are highly commendable,” indicated Dr. al-Sudais.
Al-Othaimeen, for his part, commended the services provided by the government of Saudi Arabia, the Chair of the Islamic Summit, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, May Allah protect them, to the pilgrims and visitors of the Two Holy Mosques. He indicated that the project of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, supervised by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, to translate the Arafa sermon is a great service that helps pilgrims and Muslims around the world and even non-Muslims understand the important message conveyed by this sermon every Hajj season.—PR
