Delimitation Commission is on a tour for the de-limitation of Assembly seats in Indian illegally oc-cupied Jammu and Kashmir.
As Indian government plans to reduce the Muslim majority status in the assembly through delimitation, the demand for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir is gaining strength.
While BJP is welcoming this Delimitation Commission, the opposition party Congress is de-manding statehood status for Jammu and Kashmir from the Delimitation Commission.
Congress thus demonstrated to demand full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. Congress has demanded that if the political and democratic dia-logue in IIOJK is to be strengthened, then first statehood should be given, and only after that elec-tion should be held.
Congress is arguing that if full statehood is given to Jammu and Kashmir then the confidence of the people will increase in the Indian government and they will come in large numbers to exercise their franchise.—KMS
