NEW ZEALAND – The world kicked off 2026 with gusto, with New Zealand leading way with breathtaking fireworks and a dazzling display of lights.
Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower erupted in a riot of colors as the clock struck midnight as thousands of residents gathered around the tower and nearby areas, joining in the electrifying celebration. As the countdown ended, the Sky Tower blazed with lights, accompanied by a stunning fireworks and light show that lit up the city. Streets and public spaces were adorned with electric lamps, while music and entertainment events added to the festive atmosphere.

From NZ, the celebrations moved to Australia, where Sydney Harbour became the epicenter of joy with its grand fireworks display. According to global time zones, the new year will next arrive in Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia, followed by South Asia, Russia, Europe, and ultimately the United States.
Iconic cities worldwide, including New York’s Times Square, Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, London, and Siam in Thailand, hosted fireworks and jubilant celebrations, making 2026 a truly global spectacle.
In UAE, preparations are at their peak. Dubai’s Burj Khalifa will shine with fireworks and a laser show, while residents have been advised to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion. Fireworks will also light up Festival City, Palm Jumeirah, and Atlantis, with Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah completing their grand preparations.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s cities are also gearing up for vibrant celebrations. Authorities have issued warnings that any violation of the law during festivities will be met with strict action.
