Worst Terrorist Attack Since 2008 Marriott Bombing

The federal capital on Tuesday witnessed the worst terrorist attack in last 17 years after the suicide attack on the Marriott Hotel in 2008 when around 55 people including the bomber lost their lives.

In Tuesday’s attack on the Judicial Complex, 11 persons including a senior lawyer, a number of lower courts’ employees, litigants lost their lives. The 12th body was that of the attacker.

Among the 27 injured, four are described in critical condition. The jolt caused by the blast was so severe that the residents of the nearby G-11 and G-10 sectors came out of their houses in fear.

Muhammad Akram a resident of the Sector G-10/1 which is across the road commented that he was working in his office when at around 12.39 p.m. he heard a loud noise.

It was such a strong jolt that the windowpanes of my room were broken and I along with other colleagues rushed down the stairs.

When we came out in the open, we saw clouds of smoke going upward from the Judicial Complex direction. Soon we realized there was something wrong, said Akram trying to shake off the horror.
