Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government is committed to empowering women and giving them equal rights in the society.
“No society can progress and achieve development without the proactive role of the women.”
Talking to the media in Sialkot, Dr Firdous said that March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day every year and under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the government is determined to empower women legally, economically, financially and socially at the grass-root level and historic steps are being taken for the elimination of gender discrimination, safeguarding the rights of women and giving them socio-economic empowerment.
The Special Assistant said that Chief Minister Usman Bazdar is introducing women empowerment projects under the Women Empowerment Act, adding that the government is taking steps to enforce women-friendly laws.
She said the gas supply is a top priority in rural areas as it facilitates women in their domestic life.
Dr Firdous said the disinformation cell of the opposition is spreading chaos on social media.
PTI members have expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan in the parliament and the opposition is upset and worried about the success of Imran Khan, she said.
The SACM said the political orphans are making hues and cry and challenging the government on the media screen and are not ready to come to parliament whereas the government is ready to face the opposition in the parliament.
She said that rumours about the removal of CM Usman Buzdar have no basis as Prime Minister has full confidence in the abilities of Usman Buzdar and the opposition is doing propaganda against the CM just for its nefarious interests.
The government is in competition not with the opposition but with inflation as it is one of the major challenges being faced by the country.
We will serve Pakistan on every front and Punjab is fully aware of its responsibilities as a big brother, the SACM concluded.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for HR&MA Ijaz Alam Augustine said that international Women’s day designated for promoting the rights of women and addressing the unique challenges they face.
He said that under the tremendous leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar, the Punjab Government had taken many concrete steps to eliminate gender discrimination, included Establishment of day care centers in public and private institutions for working mothers, Punjab Woman Helpline 1043 to guide women to solve all kinds of issues, digital online magazine for women and various awareness campaign about women’s rights have been launched while protecting women’s rights and to eliminate violence against women effective legislation is being made in Punjab Assembly.
He said that every religion taught respect to women and protects their rights; the government of the Punjab is committed to provide all basic facilities to women.
He said that in the tenure of PTI first ever Punjab women empowerment package was announced in 2019 on eve of international women’s day included a comprehensive policy regarding various steps taken by the Government of the Punjab.
The minister said that violence against women could be reduced by providing them with education, vocational training and social support; for this we all have to perform collective responsibility.
