ISLAMABAD – Winter holiday schedule for federal educational institutions has been announced, with vacation starting from December 26.
The Federal Department of Education has also issued an official notification regarding the schedule.
The schedule comes as temperature is dropping across the country as the Met Office has predicted rains and snowfall in various regions.
Islamabad Winter Vacation 2025-26 Schedule
According to the notification, federal government educational institutions will remain closed from December 26 to January 3. Academic activities in these institutions are set to resume on January 5.
Punjab Winter Holidays
The Punjab Education Department has issued a notification for the winter holidays for all educational institutions across the province.
According to the notification, schools will be closed from December 22, 2025 (Monday) to January 11, 2026. However, the holidays will effectively begin on December 20 (Saturday), as the weekend falls on Saturday and Sunday.
The winter break applies to both public and private schools in Punjab. The notification further stated that schools will reopen on January 12, following the holiday, after a weekly closure on Sunday, January 11.
This decision is aimed at providing students and faculty members a break during the cold winter months, allowing families to spend time together before the resumption of academic activities.
Earlier this week, the Steering Committee of the Sindh Education Department unveiled the winter vacation schedule for the province.
A department spokesperson confirmed that all public and private schools in Sindh will be closed from December 22 to December 31 for the winter break. “Schools will resume on January 1,” the spokesperson stated.
Additionally, he clarified that the supplementary exams organized by the education boards will proceed as planned and will not be impacted by the holiday period.
