Nayatel, one of the key Internet providers, reported a failure in one of its main upstream connections, which dented the digital world. The disruption left users across major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi struggling with slow browsing. The outage exposes a critical vulnerability as Pakistan relies heavily on just international internet connections.

Even a single glitch in a submarine cable, a power outage at a landing station, or misconfigurations overseas can spark nationwide slowdowns. Similar incidents have repeatedly demonstrated the fragility of Pakistan’s digital backbone.
Nayatel confirmed scale of the disruption, acknowledging that technical teams are working around the clock to reroute traffic and stabilize connectivity. However, no definitive timeline has been given for a full restoration.
