ISLAMABAD – Dubai Air Show turned tragic as India’s Tejas fighter jet, built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), crashed during a dazzling aerial demonstration. Flames engulfed the aircraft, claiming the life of the pilot and leaving spectators in shock.

Soon after the incident, stock of Indian public sector aerospace and defence company tumbled 2.58%, shedding 121.60 rupees to close at 4,595 rupees on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), as investors reacted to the fatal accident involving the state-run aerospace company.

With many spectators leaving the venue in disbelief after witnessing the fiery crash. Families, aviation enthusiasts, and international delegations had gathered to witness the spectacular display when the aircraft suddenly burst into flames.

UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed the tragic fatality and stated that emergency teams immediately secured the crash site. Authorities extended their condolences and noted that coordination with Indian officials was already underway.

Indian Air Force faces tough period as deadly incidents and escalating tensions with Pakistan take a toll. Earlier this year, intense aerial clashes erupted, with Pakistan having upper hand, after downing multiple Indian jets.

New Delhi initially dismissed the claims, but a top general later confirmed losses. U.S. President Trump also noted several jets were destroyed.

This was not fthe irst crash of Indian Tejas fighter as another jet crashed in Rajasthan last year though the pilot survived. Rising casualties and jet losses have put India’s air capabilities under scrutiny.
