Which Uk Universities Banned Pakistani Students And Why Full List Here

LONDON – UK witnessed influx of students, most from African and South Asian nation, as students stormed Britain to change their future.

Amid shocking changes in immigration, several UK universities suddenly suspended or severely limited admissions for students from Pakistan and other counteis amid triggering uproar.

Under new guidelines from UK Home Office, the acceptable refusal rate for student-visa applications dropped to around five percent. But visas for applicants from Pakistan and Bangladesh continue to be rejected at alarming rates.

University of Wolverhampton  suspended undergraduate applications from both Pakistan and Bangladesh.

University of Chester reportedly paused all Pakistani admissions through autumn 2026.

University of East London completely halted Pakistani applications.

University of Sunderland, Coventry University, University of Hertfordshire, Oxford Brookes University, Glasgow Caledonian University, and private provider BPP University have also imposed restrictions, postponements or caps on applications from these “high-risk” countries.

These reputable institutions say they must act to stay within government thresholds but the fallout has been devastating. For many Pakistani and Bangladeshi students, dreams of studying abroad have been shattered overnight. Education advisers in Pakistan have described the move as “heart-breaking,” with thousands left in limbo days before their courses were due to begin.

Behind the clampdown lies what the government and institutions call a “massive misuse” of the student-visa system. Officials allege a surge in asylum claims by international students who first entered on study or work visas transforming legitimate study routes into, in their view, a “backdoor” to settlement. Critics counter that poor regulation of recruitment agents turned visa applications into a money-making business, sweeping up genuine students in the backlash.
