Lahore’s AQI hits 211, leads world’s most polluted cities list

Lahore leads the list of the world’s most polluted cities, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 211 (very unhealthy).

Prolonged dryness and stable atmospheric conditions caused persistent accumulation of pollutants in the atmosphere.

High pollution levels will likely persist in the coming days as no significant rain-giving system is approaching Pakistan.

According to the data collected from the IQ Air website on Friday at 06:00 pm, Pakistan’s Lahore leads the list with an AQI of 211 (very unhealthy), followed by India’s Delhi with an AQI of 197 (unhealthy).

Vietnam’s Hanoi ranked third with an AQI of 190 (unhealthy), followed by Dhaka (Bangladesh) with an AQI of 174 (unhealthy).

Kolkata (India) ranked fifth with an AQI of 172 (unhealthy), closely followed by Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) with an AQI of 167 (unhealthy). Wuhan (China) and Mumbai (India) are in seventh spot with an AQI of 154 (unhealthy).

Karachi (Pakistan) ranked ninth with an AQI of 153 (unhealthy), followed by Almaty (Kazakhstan) with an AQI of 149 (unhealthy for sensitive groups).

AQI of the top city (Lahore) is very unhealthy, and that of second to nith-ranked cities is unhealthy, while that of 10th to 31st cities is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
