QUETTA – The sun has crossed the threshold of extreme heat in Balochistan, with temperatures reaching up to 48 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department said that the most parts of Balochistan are currently experiencing severe heat and dry weather. Several cities in the province recorded temperatures significantly above normal today, while some areas are forecasted to receive rainfall in the coming hours.
In Zhob, Musa Khel, Barkhan, and surrounding areas, thunderstorms with rain are possible in the afternoon, but overall, the weather will remain hot and dry.
In Quetta, the maximum temperature recorded today was 40 degrees Celsius. In Ziarat, it reached 30°C, Zhob 38°C, and Kalat 35°C. Among the hottest areas, Sibi topped the list with temperatures soaring to 48°C, while Turbat also experienced intense heat, with mercury touching 44°C.
Other cities recorded high temperatures as well included Nokundi at 46°C, Chaman 41°C, Gwadar 35°C, and Jiwani 34°C.
The medical experts advised the public to take precautionary measures against the extreme heat.
They urged people to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, increase intake of water and fluids and wear light clothing to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
