ISLAMABAD – India and Afghanistan have launched a propaganda campaign attempting to link Pakistan to the recent shooting incident in Sydney, according to Pakistani sources.
Indian and Afghan social media accounts falsely identified a Pakistani youth residing in Sydney, Naveed Akram, as one of the attackers. In response, Naveed Akram released a video message exposing the disinformation campaign and stated that his photographs were being misused to spread false narratives.
He categorically denied any involvement in terrorism, saying the baseless propaganda had put his personal safety and reputation at serious risk. Naveed Akram also appealed for an immediate halt to the spread of false content against him on social media.

It is pertinent to note that Australian police have already declared the Sydney shooting incident an act of terrorism and confirmed that the attackers were a father and son. Police have also announced the conclusion of the search for any additional suspects.
The incident occurred at a beach in Sydney, where armed assailants opened fire on civilians, killing at least 16 people and injuring around 40 others. In retaliatory action, police shot dead one attacker, while the second was arrested in an injured condition.
Australian media reported that a bystander displayed exceptional bravery by confronting one of the attackers, disarming him, and preventing further loss of life. The individual was later identified as 43-year-old Ahmed Al Ahmed, a fruit vendor in Sydney and a father of two.
According to reports, Ahmed Al Ahmed sustained two bullet wounds to his arm while attempting to overpower the attacker. He is currently under treatment at a hospital, where his condition is said to be stable and out of danger.
