Heavy potential
Doubtlessly, Pakistan has a lot of potential in every respect but more importantly tourism. Lahore has been honoured by the New York Times which has listed it among its top pick tourist destination to visit in 2021. Lahore is included in the list named ‘dream destination 2021’ among 52 cities.
Apart from this, the world magazine had ranked Pakistan as world’s most beautiful spot for tourists in its research in late 2020. Besides, the attraction of the historical and religious places located in the country cannot be denied.
The natural diversity and adventurous high ranges of mountains are absolutely amazing that Pakistan is blessed with. Additionally, Pakistan can earn money and name both if it improves its tourism industry. It can also create unbreakable brotherly relationships with other countries through tourism. Hope our incumbent government/authorities concerned are mindful of this fact.

Monsoon miseries
Not around the corner yet, but it will soon; and its arrival means once again miseries, losses and havocs because, of course, we are still not prepared and not even in a process of preparing. This will certainly not the first time when we will be left at the mercy of predictions, broken infrastructure and self-help. Monsoon – a beautiful blessing- has always turned out this way for Karachiites. With the first drop of rain, the whole city is out of electricity, broken and sunken roads, choked and overflowing nullahs, bumper to bumper traffic jams, and disrupted connections and there are countless calamities we are encountered with and again vows that the next year will be better than this (I wish).
Our people trust our official vocal persons to the extent that with their first prediction and assurance of “everything is good” they start packing and shifting their stuff to the upper shelves, build small boundary walls so that the water cannot cross the fence, and try to rescue as much of their belongings as they could. The global trends are predicting an increase in Monsoon rains with the passage of years and we are kept in the delusion of mega projects foreseen to be completed in five years.

Blackout
Last week blackout in the entire country from made people depressed and they were using uncalled for comments on social media about sudden disappearance of electricity.
Consider this that numerous areas of Balochistan are already deprived of this source in this modern era for last many decades. The writer well said, “The one who lives in brightness never understands the value of darkness”. These hours of darkness have taught a great lesson to those who did not know how hard it is to survive without this basic need.

Prisoners in Zimbabwe
It is tearful that prisons in Zimbabwe are generally overcrowded and dilapidated. Prisoners are reportedly not given sufficient food, although the lack of food is not reportedly life-threatening. Prisons have poor sanitary conditions and prisoners are vulnerable to infectious diseases. Zimbabwean President Emerson Mnangagwa ignored prisoners in Zimbabwe living under horrible conditions with no running water and facemasks as the country battles the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chikurubi Maximum Prison, the country’s biggest jail, was unfit for human habitation. The infamous jail must be closed. Prisoners in Zimbabwe are living under harsh and life-threatening conditions owing to a cocktail of challenges faced by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services. Prison conditions were harsh and life-threatening due to overcrowding, food shortage and inadequate sanitary conditions and medical care, read the report.
“The Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services (ZPCS) struggled to provide adequate food and sanitary conditions and worked with faith-based and community organizations to help address these problems. Conditions in prisons, jails and detention centres were often harsh. There were approximately 20,000 prisoners, spread across 46 main prisons and 26 satellite prisons.
Prison guards occasionally beat and physically abuse prisoners. Chikurubi Prison must be turned into a museum. It is not worth human habitation. The failure Zimbabwean President Emerson Mnangagwa and ZANU-PF government must resign from the power.

Tourism in Pakistan
Pakistan is one of the most beautiful countries in the world having high altitude and snow-covered mountains, mighty rivers and lakes. Irony is that, Pakistan’s image abroad is completely negative because of war against terrorism imposed by America and its allies.
The present government is working hard to attract international tourists and has eased the visa restrictions and many countries’ tourists are offered visa upon arrival at Pakistani airports. Hope, in due course, frequency of international tourists will increase because of friendly policies of our present government led by PM Imran Khan.
