In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a visually-impaired advocate from Jammu Suraj Singh has demanded of the authorities to implement the disability laws in the territory and provide him his due legal rights as a disabled person.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Advocate Suraj Singh, who has been sitting on fast unto death, said he being a person with disability is only demanding his due legal rights but the authorities are constantly ignoring his demands.
He said he wants the authorities to fill all the posts meant for disabled persons from backlog quota by initiating special recruitment drives. He said directives were also passed in this connection to the territory by the Indian Supreme Court on Oct 8, 2013 while hearing a case but the authorities did not pay heed to the directives.—KMS
