ISLAMABAD – Speaker Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko to address special sitting of Senate on Monday (today).

She has arrived Islamabad on a three-day visit to Pakistan.

This visit comes at the invitation of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and marks a pivotal moment in the growing diplomatic and parliamentary ties between the two nations.

Besides meeting with Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Valentina Matvienko will also call on President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a separate development, a two-day 45th Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action and 13th Consultative Assembly of Parliamentarians on International Criminal Court will begin in Islamabad on Monday.

The event, hosted by National Assembly of Pakistan, will bring together parliamentarians from around world for open dialogue.

The sessions will focus on advancing domestic and international criminal justice, promoting rule of law and upholding human rights.

Current President of Forum, Syed Naveed Qamar, will lead the gathering.
