ISLAMABAD – The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Paul Kapur, has appreciated Pakistan’s role for regional peace and stability.
He expressed these views while talking to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad.
During the meeting, discussions were held on bilateral relations and the latest situation in the Middle East. Both sides also exchanged views on increasing cooperation in the fields of security, counter-terrorism and anti-narcotics.
Speaking on the occasion, the Interior Minister said Pakistan is hopeful for a lasting and peaceful solution to the Middle East conflict.
Mohsin Naqvi said relations between Pakistan and the United States are based on mutual trust and bilateral cooperation, which have strengthened during the tenure of President Donald Trump.
He said the government has ensured foolproof security for the US companies working on the Reko Diq project.
The Interior Minister said the government wants early start of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States.
On March 27, 2026, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Chinese Embassy located in the diplomatic enclave in Islamabad, where he was warmly received by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong.
During the meeting, both officials engaged in detailed discussions on counter-terrorism, security cooperation, police exchange programs, and other key matters. The overall regional situation was also part of the dialogue.
To further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries, it was decided to organize a business conference addressing the security challenges faced by Chinese investors in Pakistan. The initiative will take place in two phases: first, meetings with the existing Chinese business community in Pakistan, followed by engagement with potential new investors.
Minister Naqvi announced the establishment of a Special Protection Unit to ensure the safety of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens, in Islamabad. The unit’s personnel will also receive training in the Chinese language to facilitate more effective communication.
