Washington – Islamabad: Following the assumption of the office of Prime Minister by Shehbaz Sharif, messages of felicitation continued pouring in from world leaders across the globe. On Wednesday, the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated Shehbaz Sharif after the latter was sworn in as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan on Monday.

In a statement issued by the official website, the US Department of State said that Pakistan had been an important partner in wide-ranging mutual interests for nearly 75 years.

“Pakistan has been an important partner on wide-ranging mutual interests for nearly 75 years and we value our relationship.”

Congratulating the newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Antony Blinken said that the US administration looked forward to continuing their long-standing cooperation with Pakistan’s government.

“The United States congratulates newly-elected Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and we look forward to continuing our long-standing cooperation with Pakistan’s government.”

“The United States views a strong, prosperous, and democratic Pakistan as essential for the interests of both of our countries,” Blinken added.
