Welcomes literary cooperation between Pakistan, Azerbaijan scholars
The Urdu translation of the epic of Azerbaijan “The Book of Dede Gurgod” with the title of Kitaab i-Dede Gurgod was launched at the Governor’s House Lahore.
The Urdu translation is rendered by Najmud-din-Ahmad and is published by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman while talking to the participants spoke high about the book and praised the efforts of the PAL for making efforts to strengthen the bilateral relations of the two countries on the cultural front.
Speaking on this occasion, Ambassador Azerbaijan Khazar Farhadov said he was happy to see the literary institutions of both countries working in coordination.
President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Mr Habibbeyli also spoke on the occasion and talked about the significance and antiquity of the “The Book of Dede Gurgod” and termed the publication of its Urdu translation a step forward in the cultural and literary friendship and intimacy of the two countries.
Dr Yousuf Khushk, Chairman of the PAL while introducing the book mentioned the special emphasis of the stories of the book on morality and high values of society.
He referred to the publication of the book as a big step in the understanding of Urdu readers about the literature and society of Azerbaijan. He added that PAL intended to initiate more literary projects of this sort in collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences in future.
In the ceremony, Academician Prof. Eisa Habibbeyli President Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was presented with an honorary shield by the Governor Punjab and Chairman of the Academy in recognition of the efforts made to strengthen the literary ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Vice Chancellor of GC University, DG Information Saeed Ahmed, eminent writer Neelam Ahmed Basheer, Dr. Atiya Syed, Dr. Saima Aram, Ghafar Shehzad, Khanum Rukhshanda Naveed, Dr. Shahida Dilawar Shah, Shamila Kashif, Dr. Almas Khanum, Khanum Rida Nasr and A delegation of Azerbaijani writers and scholars along with a large number of other famous writers and poets also participated in this program. The copies of the book were also distributed among the participants.
