LAHORE – Renowned Pakistani classical, ghazal, and playback singer, Shafqat Amanat Ali and actress Resham faced massive public backlash after teaser of their romantic music video.
Ali is set to release a cover of the legendary Noor Jehan’s iconic romantic ghazal “Pehli Si Mohabbat.” The much-anticipated release is scheduled for December 31.
Shafqat Amanat Ali, whose voice has been widely appreciated both in Pakistan and India, rose to fame with hits like “Akhiyan,” and “Teri Jhuki Nazar.” Recently, he also received widespread praise for his performance at Bridal Couture Week, where he sang “Aankhon Ke Saagar.”
The music video for the new version of “Pehli Si Mohabbat” features Resham, alongside Shafqat Amanat Ali in the lead roles.
Resham shared the teaser on Instagram with a note. She wrote, “Honoured to be part of this soulful journey alongside the incredibly talented Shafqat Amanat Ali. To witness the timeless ghazal Mujhse Pehli Si Mohabbat, originally immortalised by the legendary Madam Noor Jehan, being reimagined for a new time is deeply humbling and incredibly special. Some ghazals transcend generations, and being a part of one such legacy feels nothing short of magical. Arriving on the 31st December”.

The pairing has sparked a lot of excitement, but Shafqat’s decision to play the romantic hero has also attracted considerable public criticism.
Several fans have expressed their disappointment, stating that the role of the romantic hero should have been given to an actor rather than a singer.
Some social media users have called the video “inappropriate” and “disappointing.”
A user called the romantic moments in the video “Unnecessary romance” while another termed it “3rd class romance”.
