Unique Science Academy among 50 buildings sealed in Lahore

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 50 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Thursday.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 10 buildings in Shadman, 17 in Gulberg and New Garden Town, and 20 in Allama Iqbal Town and Sabzazar Housing Scheme during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees. LDA teams also sealed gyms in Punjab University Town’s Community Centre.

The sealed premises include Unique Science Academy, Science School & Academy, Clipper Beauty Salon, a pharmacy, private clinic, grocery stores, food outlets, workshops, offices, and other businesses.

Meanwhile, LDA teams demolished 10 buildings across different areas for violating bylaws. LDA razed an illegal school building and shop on Khera Distributory Road, under construction pillars and shops in IEP Town, under construction column and beam structure on Defence Road and a commercial hall in Muhafiz Town.

LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by heavy machinery and the Police.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
