RAWALPINDI – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday ordered the seizure of surety bonds of Aleema Khan in a case related to the November 26 protest.
The court passed the order after Aleema Khan and her lawyer did not appear before it.
Aleema Khan is among 11 other suspects who were booked over charges of protest on November 26. According to the PTI, dozens of its workers lost their lives during the protest. It alleged that the state authorities launched an operation.
As the hearing commenced, the prosecution asked the court to confiscate Aleema Khan’s surety bonds due to her absence, pointing out that she had previously assured the court of her presence at every hearing.
The court approved the prosecution’s request and ordered the seizure of two surety bonds of Rs 1 million each. Notices were also issued regarding her bailable warrants and the cancellation of bail.
The court adjourned the next hearing in the case until December 15.
Soon after the adjournment, Aleema Khan appeared in court with her lawyer.
On Nov 28, 2025, Aleema Khan filed a contempt of court petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the Superintendent of Adiala Jail for allegedly denying her a meeting with former prime minister Imran Khan despite a clear court order.
In her petition, Aleema Khan stated that the jail administration failed to implement the IHC’s March 24 directive, terming it a violation warranting legal action. She urged the court to initiate contempt proceedings against those responsible and to impose punishment in accordance with the law.
The petition names the Adiala Jail superintendent, the federal interior secretary and the Punjab interior secretary as respondents.
Speaking to reporters at the IHC, Aleema Khan said that court orders were being openly disregarded, which she described as an affront to the judiciary. She added that the authorities could not “harm Imran Khan” and insisted that enforcing judicial orders was essential for upholding the rule of law.
Earlier, the chaos erupted outside Adiala Jail as sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, along with passionate party supporters, attempted to march toward the prison.
Eyewitnesses described scene of high tension, with PTI workers chanting slogans and pushing against police barricades. The situation quickly escalated into scuffles as the crowd tried to break through the security cordon, leading to a brief but intense confrontation with law enforcement.
Police acted swiftly to contain the protesters, preventing them from advancing further. Undeterred, Aleema Khan and the gathered PTI supporters regrouped and staged a sit-in near the jail, promising to continue their protest until their demands are heard.
The dramatic standoff highlighted the rising tensions surrounding Imran Khan and his party, leaving the area on edge as authorities monitored the situation closely.
