Uk Halts Deportation Of Pakistani Origin Youth Citing His Past As Star Student

LONDON – A British tribunal has stopped the deportation of a 22-year-old Pakistani-origin youth after accepting his appeal, pointing out his past academic performance as a “star student,” despite his criminal record.

The international media reported that the youth, identified as Muhammad Azaan, had previously faced multiple disciplinary and criminal actions in the UK.

His record included shoplifting, bringing a knife to school, and subsequent expulsion from the institution.

Azaan also served a 30-month prison sentence after being convicted for involvement in a drugs network.

Despite these offences, the tribunal ruled in his favour, acknowledging submissions regarding his earlier academic achievements.

Following the decision, the British authorities have halted his deportation process.

The case has drawn attention due to the contrast between Azaan’s criminal history and the tribunal’s reliance on his past educational performance in its ruling.
