UK diplomat offers cooperation in city uplift


Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom Mike Nithavrianakis called on Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Wednesday . Both the dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest. The visiting guest expressed keen interest in the areas of solid waste management, transport and clean drinking water in Karachi. He said UK will cooperate with Karachi in these areas and export-oriented fund will provide financial assistance to Pakistan. The diplomat said the UK government will provide books for Karachi libraries, adding that Pakistan has deep ties with the UK from its inception. Mr Nithavrianakis said a large number of Pakistani students are studying in the UK. Administrator Shalawani appreciated Dy High Commissioner offer for the improvement of Karachi and cooperation in various fields. Later, the UK Deputy High Commissioner visited the main building of Karachi Metropolitan Municipality. He was moved by the beauty and charm of the building.
