A two-day training workshop was organized at a private hotel in Karachi under the Pakistan Information Center (PIC), an independent body of the Press Information Department (PID) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.During the two-day workshop, journalists from various newspapers, TV channels and websites of the country were trained on ‘Media Ethics’.
During the training workshop, journalists were trained on journalistic values, ethics, rules, regulations, impartial and thrilling reporting.Apart from Karachi, some journalists from other cities of the province also participated in the program while women journalists were also part of the workshop.
The training workshop on Media Ethics and Code of Conduct was attended by journalists of all ages, races and religions, while senior journalist Aafia Salam acted as the chief trainer.
Leading news anchor and journalist Mubashir Zaidi and Najia Usher also addressed the training workshop as special guests and gave useful advice to young journalists on media rules and ethics. Director General (DG) Public Relations (PR) Iram Tanveer also addressed the gathering and said that PID has always worked for the betterment of journalists and journalistic institutions.DG (PR) Iram Tanveer said that under the PIC project, training workshops would be organized for journalists from all over the province including Karachi. During the workshop, PID spokesperson Qasim Farooq also gave a lecture and told the journalists that PIC is an independent project of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting recently launched with the objective of enhancing the professionalism of young journalists.
During the workshop, PIC in-charge Rahim Bux also gave useful suggestions to the participating journalists and said that in future his organization aims to conduct systematic training programs for journalists.
