ISLAMABAD – Another scam is tricking TikTok users, targeting drivers with fake promises of home-based driving license renewals through Punjab’s official DLIMS system.
As more and more drivers are applying for licences, fraudsters use cloned branding, sponsored ads, and urgent “token” warnings to trick users into uploading sensitive documents like ID Cards and passport pictures.
Victims risk identity theft, SIM fraud, bank account takeovers, and illegal loans. These fake portals even block screenshots to destroy evidence, and payments are funneled to untraceable accounts. Authorities warn that only verified DLIMS platforms should be trusted, as impersonation scams across government services are rising sharply in 2025.
DLIMS Scam in Pakistan
A shocking new scam is sweeping across TikTok, duping unsuspecting drivers into handing over personal documents and money, all under the guise of Punjab’s official Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS).
As citizens are visiting online portals to renew driving license from home. Scammers are running ads that look legit, complete with DLIMS logos and professional graphics. But these accounts are suspicious as they have zero content, no engagement, and exist solely to lure victims.
Clicking ad leads to cloned websites hosted on platforms like Netlify, designed for anonymity and rapid deployment. The fake portals mirror real DLIMS processes: users select vehicle types, enter personal data, and pay fees that appear legitimate. But here’s the catch, victims are asked to upload personal documents.
This information is then used for identity theft, SIM fraud, bank account takeovers, and illegal loans, putting unsuspecting citizens at enormous risk.
Scammers intensify pressure with fake “token numbers” and countdown timers, creating false sense of urgency. Shockingly, these sites even block screenshots, a feature official portals never use, to erase evidence. Payments go to untraceable JazzCash accounts, often withdrawn immediately, making recovery nearly impossible.
Authorities warn this is not an isolated case. Impersonation scams targeting NADRA, Ehsaas/BISP, passports, traffic fines, and DLIMS are on the rise in 2025, fueled by social media and weak ad moderation.
Drivers are advised that DLIMS services can be accessed only at dlims.punjab.gov.pk or verified .gov.pk platforms like Dastak and Punjab Police apps.
