Thousands of people, today, attended the funeral prayers of three civilians, who were killed in custody by Indian troops in Poonch district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The troops arrested the civilians, Safeer Ahmed, Mohammed Showkat and Shabbir Ahmed, during a cordon and search operation in Surankot area of Poonch and later killed them in custody in Bafliaz area of the district. After the dead bodies of the victims were handed over to their families, thou-sands of people gathered in Topa Peer area of the district and participated in their funeral prayers.
The participants of the funeral raising pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans demanded exemplary punishment to the troops involved in this heinous crime.
Fatima Kouser, wife of Mohammad Showkat, spoke on heart wrenching killing of her husband along with Safeer and Shabbir. She said they got married ten months back and were happy with their life but all her dreams are shattered now. She said that her husband was severely tortured during the custody.
Meanwhile, National Conference leader, Mian Altaf, in a statement said that the occupation authorities did not allow him to visit Poonch to express solidarity with the families of the martyred civilians.—KMS
