They Were Not Married Balochistan Cm Trashes Love Marriage Narrative In Double Murder Case

QUETTA – Balochistan witnessed brutal killing of a man and a woman in the Sanjidi Degari area of the restive region. It was reported that the couple was killed over an alleged love marriage, but Balochistan Chief Minister came up with uan ntold narrative about the killing.

Amid widespread outrage across Pakistan, Balochistan CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti addressed a press conference on Monday, refuting the viral claims and sharing key details of the case.

“There was no marital relationship between the two,” Bugti said. “Contrary to social media reports, they were not a newlywed couple. The woman was a mother of five, and the man also had several children.”

CM said authorities had taken action even before the video of the incident went viral. “We took immediate notice and directed the IG to arrest the culprits. So far, 11 individuals have been arrested, and raids are underway to catch the remaining suspects.”

He further emphasised government’s commitment to justice, saying, “The state stands with the oppressed, and this case is a test of our resolve. No one involved will be spared.” Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)  has been suspended for failing to inform the government about the incident in time. “It was his duty, and he neglected it,” Bugti said.

Responding to questions about tribal jirgas, social media users and activists criticised extrajudicial punishments, as provincial authorities are actively discouraging such practices.

The brutal nature of the killings and the false narrative of a love marriage have intensified calls for stricter action against such violence.
