ISLAMABAD – Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Monday called Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to express condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by recent floods in Pakistan.
Interior Minister Momeni conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased and said that Iran stands with the Government and people of Pakistan in this difficult time. He also offered all possible assistance for the flood-affected people.
During the call, the two ministers also discussed the upcoming visit of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan, scheduled for July 26. Minister Momeni also expressed gratitude to Mohsin Naqvi for his recent visit to Iran.
In response, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked his Iranian counterpart and said Pakistan is looking forward to welcome President Pezeshkian to Islamabad.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Senior Adviser on International Affairs to Iran’s Supreme Leader Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati in Tehran and discussed matters of mutual interest, Pakistan-Iran relations, and the regional situation.
They also held exchanged views on the current situation in the region following the Iran-Israel ceasefire.
The Interior Minister conveyed the best wishes from Pakistan’s political and military leadership to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mohsin Naqvi stated Pakistan and Iran have always stood by each other in both war and peace.
He emphasized that no enemy can create a rift between Pakistan and Iran.
