Punjab Senate Polls: PML-N’s Abdul Karim clinches victory with 243 Votes

Punjab Senate Polls Pml Ns Abdul Karim Clinches Victory With 243 Votes

LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Hafiz Abdul Karim secured commanding victory over rival backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to unofficial results, Hafiz Abdul Karim secured 243 votes in the Punjab Assembly. His opponent, PTI-backed independent candidate Mehr Abdul Sattar, got only 99 votes, the polling also saw three votes rejected.

Out of total of 368 members in the Punjab Assembly, 345 lawmakers cast their votes in today’s polling.

The result shows strong position of ruling coalition in Punjab and a major setback for PTI-backed candidate. Notably, PTI’s government and opposition factions reportedly came together in a rare show of unity to contest against PTI’s dissident member Khurram Zeeshan, who was not directly in the race but became a symbol of intra-party division.

Hafiz Abdul Karim’s victory strengthens PML-N’s presence in Senate and signals party’s growing influence ahead of future legislative developments.

Further confirmation and official notification from Election Commission of Pakistan are awaited.
