The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 63 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 17 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 18 in Samanabad and Gulshan-e-Ravi, and 28 in Allama Iqbal Town and Subzazar Housing Scheme during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include The Arqam Schools, Huda Foundation, Lahore Public High School, Jamil Science School & Academy, Mr Bean, B Foods, Pharma Plus, Health Shop, grocery stores, food points, workshops, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
