Swift buyers in Pakistan will now have to dig deeper into their pockets, as the federal budget for 2025 has brought massive increases in car prices, particularly affecting the popular Swift lineup. The new budget raises the GST on vehicles with engine sizes up to 850cc from 12.5% to 18%, a substantial increase aimed at bolstering state revenues. In addition, a 1% Green Tax has been introduced on all internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, whether locally assembled or imported. While these measures are intended to encourage a shift toward environmentally friendly transport, they are also making conventional cars more expensive for consumers.
