PESHAWAR – Pakistan is facing a fresh wave of terrorism and the latest attack occurred in police headquarters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district.
Tank DPO confirmed the deaths as sub-inspector Gohar Zaman was also among those martyred. Officials said a terrorist first exploded himself at the main entrance of the police office and his aides later joined him.
What followed was a gun battle and cops deployed at the headquarters engaged in cross firing for several hours. Three of the attackers were gunned down during the retaliatory fire, and a clearance operation is underway.
Following the attack, a contingent of security forces cordoned off the area and started the operation.
The premises that come under terror attack was constructed in recent times, located near Dera Ismail Khan where more than two dozen army troops were martyred in separate attacks.
Top officials including interim Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar strongly denounced the attack on Police Lines in Tank and the joint police-Frontier Corps check post in the Khyber district.
