ISLAMABAD – Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, discussing Pak–Türkiye relations.
The high-level meeting focused on expanding collaboration in energy sector, enhancing bilateral ties, and exploring opportunities for strategic partnership. Both leaders reaffirmed commitment to working together on shared goals and promoting regional stability.
During discussions, Army ChiefCOAS highlighted historic and deeply rooted brotherly ties between Islamabad and Ankara, expressing gratitude for Türkiye’s continued support to Pakistan across international forums.
Minister Bayraktar stresed Türkiye’s readiness to deepen cooperation in the energy domain and acknowledged Pakistan’s ongoing efforts toward peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
Pakistan and Türkiye have been steadily deepening their energy cooperation in recent years, with a focus on both strategic partnership and regional stability. Two sides signed a landmark joint-bidding agreement to explore offshore oil and gas in Pakistan’s Makran and Indus basins, with Türkiye’s state-owned company TPAO partnering with Pakistani firms such as OGDCL, Mari Energies, and PPL.
The collaboration aims to attract foreign investment, bring advanced technology, and transfer expertise to Pakistan’s energy sector. Under the agreement, TPAO will begin exploration in selected offshore and onshore fields from 2026, including seismic surveys and drilling operations.
The partnership is expected to expand into mining, power-sector development, and infrastructure projects. This cooperation not only seeks to unlock Pakistan’s untapped energy potential but also strengthens bilateral ties.
