SSWMB to further standardized with modern technology

Provincial Minister of Local Government and Public Health Engineering Sindh Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that under the sweep project of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, more standards will be made through modern technology.

These views were expressed by Additional Chief Secretary Syed Najam Shah, Managing Director Solid Waste. Zubair Ahmed Chana and the team of SWIP project while talking to the relevant Moroccan delegation on the occasion of a study visit to Morocco.

He said that there are profitable and attractive investment opportunities in the waste water treatment, sewage treatment and waste-to-energy sectors in Sindh province and especially in Karachi, while investors from many countries of the world have shown special interest in this sector regarding solid waste. And what is the contact for investment?

The provincial minister said that the best team consisting of experts in sweep project and solid waste management is engaged in measures related to waste. Facility (MRF), Refuse Driven Fuel (RDF) Plant, road cleaning procedure, modern mechanical sweeping system and briefed about 15 years performance of Solid Waste Management System. Apart from this, he saw the process of modern waste collection, treatment and safe disposal of waste, where he was given a complete briefing on the related technology. The board has to be equipped with modern technology and improve the quality.

On this occasion, MD Zubair Ahmed Chana informed the delegation of Morocco about the performance of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board and the sweep project. He said that under the sweep project, engineered landfill sites, Garbage Transfer Station (GTS ), a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) will be provided while the SWEP project is providing support for Waste to Energy and Refuse Driven Fuel (RDF) plants.

Sindh Local Government Minister along with the delegation also met potential investors of waste water treatment, sewage treatment and waste to energy companies who are interested in investing in Pakistan in the respective sectors. On this occasion, Minister of Municipalities invited Mazkoura companies to come to Karachi.
