Sri Lanka shows interest in Pakistan’s footwear industry

G.L. Gnanatheva, Consul General Sri Lanka called on Hassan Javed, Chairman PFMA in PFMA office and shown his great interest in Pakistan Footwear Sector.
During the Meeting Chairman PFMA told the Counsel General that few Pakistani Footwear industrialist have established their Footwear industry in Sri Lanka and they are exporting high qualities shoes from Sri Lanka to EU Countries. There is a need to strengthen this cooperation to next level by providing ease of doing Business through bilateral agreements and concessional policies.
Chairman PFMA and Counsel General Sri Lanka has agreed to develop bilateral relations between businessmen community of Footwear Sectors of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in order to take maximum benefit of their expertise and increase the volume of business at both ends. Both Agreed to include Footwear Sector in next phase of FTA to enhance trade ties.
During Meeting PFMA chairman stated that “ In current difficult situation it’s a good omen that Foreign investors trust has been restored and they are confident to do business with us.
We welcome Sri Lankan offer of forging bilateral business relationship with footwear industry of Pakistan which holds great potential of producing quality footwears not only for local market but can export to Europe and American Markets. This is the right time to make this sector a leading exporting industry of Pakistan by exploring and penetrating in foreign markets with finest products and competing with International Brands”
The Meeting concluded with Chairman PFMA invited Delegation of Sri Lanka businessmen to Pakistan Mega Leather Show going to be held from 27th till 29thJan 2020 at Lahore.
