The entire nation, including the top AJK leadership, observes the Kashmir Black Day with a renewed commitment to support the just struggle of Kashmiris for their inalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Pakistan would continue to “extend political, moral and diplomatic support” to the people of Kashmir till they achieve the right to self-determination as per UN resolutions. A press statement issued by Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC).
Kashmir Black Day is an annual commemoration by Kashmiris as well as by Pakistanis across the world to mark 27 October as ‘Black Day’. Every year, the day is marked to express solidarity and support Kashmiri people in their struggle for right to self-determination.
The Nazriya Pakistan Council – in keeping with the spirit of the whole nation and across Pakistan and Azad Kashmir – from the platform of Aiwan-i-Quaid, on the Kashmir Black Day – most passionately and with all sincerity, joins all & sundry in commemorating the Day and in paying glowing tribute to the Kashmiris’ resilience & fortitude for freedom. Thousands of Kashmiris have lost their lives and thousands more are languishing in Indian jails. However, atrocities and humiliations have not deterred them from a cause based on the legitimate aspiration of their right to self-determination as stipulated in the UN Charter and UNSC Resolutions.
NPC here quotes the Pakistan Observer in President Zardari stating: we stand united with our Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for justice, peace and self-determination. We call upon the international community to hold India accountable for its grave systematic human rights violations in IIOJK. And in PM, Shehbaz Sharif, saying: we reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with the people of Jammu & Kashmir, and will never relent in our commitment to the Kashmiri cause, until justice is done. Plus DPM-FM expressing: Pakistan will continue to raise its voice at every international forum until the realization of Kashmiris’ legitimate right to self-determination.
People, including the Army Field Marshal,describe Kashmir as the jugular vein of Pakistan. Kashmiri martyrs are wrapped in the flag of Pakistan before burial. The determination of the Kashmiri people remains absolute in continuing their struggle against Indian illegal occupation. Despite India’s conspiracies and atrocities, the spirit of the Kashmiris stays strong, never to bow to India.
NPC notes with its appreciation, that alongside many other Print Media Dailies, the Pakistan Observer in Islamabad, dedicated itself to the cause of Kashmiris on this Kashmir Black Day by publishing several Op-eds and special pages with Statements & Messages of Pakistan’s top leadership, and in particular keeps reminding its Readership of the “Kashmir Travail – A Trial of World Conscience” by reminding them of the haunting Days of Curfew the IIOJK people continue to suffer ceaselessly.
The Chairman of NPC, Mian Muhammad Javed, in his message, on this solemn occasion, recalling the tremendous sacrifices made by the Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir, as well as the dark events of 27th October 1947 when Indian troops landed in Srinagar to enforce India’s illegal occupation, asked the Pakistani nation not ever to forget this “black Day” and to continue to extend full moral, political and humanistic support to the Kashmiri people under occupation & subjugation.
NPC recalls with dignity, on the solemn occasion of Kashmir Black Day, the dark events of 27 October 1947, when Indian troops landed in Srinagar to enforce India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. In the last seventy-eight years, the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have suffered a systematic and relentless campaign of tyranny, oppression and subjugation at the hands of Indian occupation forces. The human tragedy in IIOJK has even worsened in the last six years following India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019.
The revocation of the special status of IIOJK, followed by the imposition of draconian laws, demographic changes triggered by the issuance of a barrage of domiciles to non-residents, and the imprisonment of the legitimate Kashmiri leadership have become the defining features of the Indian occupation.
In the aftermath of the Pahalgam Attack, the Indian authorities launched another sweeping crackdown in IIOJK, subjecting thousands of Kashmiris to arbitrary detention and interrogation, while also carrying out demolition of homes of innocent residents in the occupied territory.
These developments added to a long record of India’s human rights violations and atrocities in IIOJK.
Kashmir Black Day focuses on showing Pakistan’s support and unity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, their ongoing freedom struggle, and to pay homage to Kashmiri martyrs who lost their lives fighting for Kashmir’s freedom.
