KARACHI – Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah has announced a one-hour reduction in school timings across the province.
The minister announced the decision through a post on his official Facebook account.
Speaking at an event in Karachi, Shah said the province had failed to develop a uniform education policy and described the large number of out-of-school children as a major challenge.
He said floods had damaged the boundary walls of around 20,000 schools, while Pakistan spends less on education than any other country in the world.
He urged the federal government to allocate funds for educational centres through the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
The minister said millions of children are receiving education through community-based centres.
He added that continued inflation had increased the operating costs of these educational facilities.
