Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani questioned on Tuesday, “Do (we) the provincial government has to contact the United Nations (UN) to change IG?” He was reacting to Inspector General of Police Sindh Kaleem Imam’s rebuttal on his transfer while addressing a press conference on Tuesday. The minister said the provincial cabinet has showed no-confidence over IGP Imam. He said Kaleem Imam was saying that he was not going anywhere and transferring him was not easy. Ghani said that the transfer and posting is part of officers’ career. The minister said IG Sindh has actually second reservations shown by the provincial government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) over him. He alleged that the Kaleem Imam plotted conspiracy against the government by issuing fake reports against him and provincial minister Imtiaz Shaikh. Ghani said IGP Sindh actually validated the reservations shown by the provincial government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) over him. The federal government on Monday had decided to remove the Sindh inspector general of police (IG), Kaleem Imam, after Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah had requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to replace Sindh IGP in a one-on-one meeting here in Karachi. Sources said that Mushtaq Ahmed Mehar likely to be appointed as new IGP Sindh. Moreover, while welcoming the workers of the MQM for joining Pakistan People’s Party, he said that important figures of the metropolitan would also join the PPP soon. The minister expressed the hope that these workers who had joined the PPP would play their role in ending the politics of division and polarization. Apart from MQM East workers, the workers of PSP, ANP and APMSO who announced to quit their parties and join PPP were present during the press conference.
