The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned several high-ranking officials, including the province’s chief secretary, the President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), and the health secretary, to address issues related to the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 results. In its written order, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has called for the presence of the Sindh chief secretary, health secretary, and the secretary for boards and universities.

The court also mandated the appearance of Dr. RizwanTaj, President of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). In addition, the Vice Chancellors of all medical universities across Sindh have been asked to attend the hearing. The SHC has urged the relevant authorities to provide suggestions on how to improve the transparency of future entrance exams.

The court further directed consultations with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to assess whether they could conduct the MDCAT exam in the future, ensuring fairness in the process. Moreover, the SHC has requested detailed records of students who scored 190 marks in the 2024 MDCAT, signaling its intent to closely scrutinize the results.

The case has been adjourned until October 9. On September 30, Dow University released the official results of the MDCAT 2024, providing a statistical overview of the exam. Out of 38,041 candidates who appeared from across Sindh, 22,366 managed to pass, marking a pass rate of 58.79%.

At the Ojha and NED test centers, 12,572 candidates sat for the exam, with 6,947 qualifying for MBBS programs and 7,941 for BDS courses.

The court expressed concerns about the current system, citing that it places unnecessary stress on students and parents while also opening up opportunities for malpractice and corruption.
