ISLAMABAD – Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki, the brother-in-law of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, passed away in the provincial capital Lahore.

Makki, who faced years-long legal woes, was reportedly was having multiple health conditions including diabetes and was receiving treatment at private hospital in the metropolis.

He suffered a heart attack early this morning and later passed away in the hospital, Jamaat ud Dawa officials said.

Four years back, a Pakistani court handed down 6 months imprisonment in terror financing. He had been keeping low profile after being sentenced in high profile case.

Jamaat-ud-Dawa comes under fire by former Pakistani governments amid international pressure. Makki was reportedly sentenced for fundraising for the banned outfit.

The deceased was wanted by the US in connection with attack in the neighboring country, with $ 2 million bounty on his head.
