A Sindh High Court (SHC) division bench here on Wednesday resumed hearing on constitutional petition CP-2144/2020 of Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and the noted neurophysician of the country DrFowziaSiddiqui about urgent release of DrAafia, and adjourned the hearing till date in office. DrFowziaSiddiqui along with her lawyer Advocate Irfan Aziz was present in the court and she prayed to order the federal government and foreign office to take urgent steps for early release of AafiaSiddiqui as coronavirus has spread in the US jails and the life of AafiaSiddiqui was in danger. Later, talking to media, Advocate Irfan Aziz said they have already submitted a copy of commutation petition of DrAafia duly singed by in the court. He said the plea of the government lawyer that Aafia does not want to talk on this matter holds no water, as the commutation petition has already been signed by DrAafia herself. However, talking to media outside the court premises, DrFowzia regretted that the federal government is not discharging its constitutional responsibly to save lives of Pakistani citizens. She said the life of Aafia is in grave danger and coronavirus has badly spread in the US prisons and as per a report one in every three prisoners is suffering from the coronavirus. She said one more hearing was held and the case was adjourned. She said our court is not ready to order the federal government on Aafia issue. She said our government wanted that Aafia should die. It is using all sorts of delaying tactics so that Aafia may die in the US prison. She said it would be a perfect pretext of non-action of government, if she dies in prison. She said as per American media one in three prisoners in US federal jails are suffering from coronavirus.
